Dr. Ahmed Kostas is the founder of Sufi Village International, Inc. and a Muqadam (representative) of the Qadiria Butshishia Order in the USA, under the guidance of
Grand Sheikh Hamza of Morocco. He is a graduate of Theology and Islamic Sciences in Alqarawiyine University, Fez, Morocco, and Laureate of Dar Al Hadith Al Hassania, Rabat. In addition to publishing a book (in Arabic) about the Qadiria Tariqa, Dr. Kostas has been the editor of Al Mureed Review, an Arabic magazine specialized in Sufi studies. In 1998, Dr. Kostas and his family lived in the U.S. while he taught at the University of Maryland on a Fulbright Scholarship. Since then, this group of students has grown to include solid communities on both coasts and in the Midwest.In addition to his spiritual duties, Dr. Kostas works with the Fes Sais Organization to promote and preserve Moroccan Traditional Arts, Culture, and Sufism, including the Annual International World Sacred Music Festival.
Dr. Ahmed was born in a Shadhili Sufi shrine of the Jazoulia Sufi Order in Marrakech. He lived his childhood among Sufi teachers and Sheikhs until the age of nineteen when he joined the Qadiria Boudshichia and took hands with the living Grand Master, Sheikh Hamza, remaining to live at the Zawiya with the Sheikh for some ten years.
