AMUSA organizes picnic for Moroccan community in USA
The Association of Moroccans in the USA (AMUSA) organised a « Nzaha », a collective picnic, on Sunday in a public park in the Washington DC region. The Nzaha was organised on behalf of members of the Moroccan community residing in Virginia, Maryland, Baltimore and Columbus Districts, reported MAP news agency
The picnic attracted many Moroccans living in the States, representing all socio-professional categories, as well as some guests of different nationalities. The Nzaha was marked by barbecue grills and a buffet adorned with the famous Moroccan gastronomy with biscuits and tea.
The Nzaha was held in a joyful mood and good spirits and was embellished with singing performed by “Sounds of Morocco”.
Besides its relaxing aspect, the picnic permitted Moroccans residing in USA to meet, make acquaintances, exchange ideas and experiences on their professions and businesses, weave ties of friendship and share news on the progress of the just cause of defending Moroccan territorial integrity. The Nzaha was also aimed at reinforcing the spirit of social solidarity and belonging to the motherland and concentrating actions on behalf of the Moroccan community in USA, which is still attached to homeland.
Heads of the Association of Moroccans in the USA (AMUSA), the American Muslim Association of North America (AMANA) and Washington Moroccan Club, participated in the picnic to talk about educational, artistic and cultural activities they planned to carry out on behalf of children of the community. This will familiarise them with the Moroccan culture and Arab-Islamic traditions.
Therefore, competitions of Koranic psalmody as well as sports, educational and recreational activities are expected to take place during religious feasts (Aid Al Fitr and Aid Al Kebir), to develop intellectual and physical abilities within a Moroccan Arab and Islamic environment, in children of the second generation.
Hassan Khantach, Morocco's Consul in Washington; Mohammed Aboukhros, president of AMUSA association; Aboubaker Abissourour, president of AMANA association and Hassan Semgrhouni, president of Washington Moroccan Club participated in the Nzaha
